PEOPLE---I'm at my wits end here with tight clothes and cruddy attitude. I'll fashion a pillow case into a dress before I buy a size larger!!!!The rest of America may be getting bigger but I REFUSE to follow in their footsteps.
Something has to give and no better time to test my inner strength than a holiday food/diet challenge. I have been stalking Melissa Urbans site for months and gleaned allot of knowledge. I watched while hundreds of people took her Whole30 challenge in hopes of bettering themselves and their athletic performance. I researched and took notes...lots of notes. The time has come for me to get off my ass and take control of my diet.
Clearly my diet isn't one that's full of fatty fried crap, I eat more veggies and fruit than the average person in America BUT I also eat harmful fake sugars and lack in healthy fats. I'm AFRAID of fat!!!!(there I said it). I'm still brainwashed from wanting a competition diet. I have NOTHING against those diets as I have many wonderful friends who still compete yet that diet is no longer for me.
Why? I freaking obsess about my diet/weight and that is no way to go through life. Is telling you people this fucking embarrassing???? FUCK YES!--but it's real and I'm not alone. Cravings need to GO!!!!!!I want to know I'm putting healthy good stuff in my body, to help it perform at top level and produce energy!
Yesterday I met with coach Crystal, we talked diet and strategy. I'm going solid Paleo/Zone for 30 days(minus my b-day brunch next Sat). This means.....no dairy, legumes, Grains(beyond the occasional post-WO oats)and sugar/fake sugar(stevia included). This means lots of fresh yummy veggies, lean meats/fish, fruits and some yummy healthy fats.
Can I do this? Hell yes! I'm hoping to do it clear through the holidays with a possible break for Christmakahwanza day.
This is what I expect will happen:
-I'll go crazy the first week without my SF ice pops--suck it up and deal.
-BF% will drop...hello lean jeans
-My performance will excel.:)
-My cravings will decrease
-My friends will think I'm nuts...hmm most already do.
-It will be HARD as shit!...worth it totally.
-I'll bitch and moan in my blog...
-I'll learn how to cook
Mmmmm drinking black coffee as I type.
Bring it on!

You've got this, Barbara.
I've been no-cheat for almost 3 weeks now. After the first week, it's just habit. And in a way, it's really liberating.
The stress of questioning yourself is gone: Should I have a glass of wine? How bad is one Hershey's kiss? Is half a tortilla really the difference between success and not?
Because those things just aren't part of the equation. I think you're going to love it!
Mel~
Thank you for having my back. You know I'll be checking out your awesome recipes now!!!!!!!
The tahini dressing and sunshine sauce are life-savers because you can drizzle them on cooked and raw veggies to make them taste like FOOD instead of ingredients.
My other tip: Grill, bake, or saute a lot of protein... and prep a bunch of veggies, then you can mix-and-match meals.
You will be fine. Don't worry and GOOD LUCK.
:-) :-).

I'll be watching...I love new and interesting recipes! Sounds like what I've been doing the past 3 weeks (check out my fitness blog and I've updated some pics...embarrassing, but encouraging!)
However, I'm still eating healthy carbs (legumes and sweet potatoes, etc...) Interested in their philosophy of cutting those out???
You can do it Barb. I know where you are coming from. Many of us do!
